Fine Arts: Sewing & Tailoring Haute Couture

​This department introduces the foundations of sewing through the study of both hand and machine techniques. The courses explore the content behind garment construction, including stitches, fabrics, patterns, alterations, and the elements that shape couture design. Students learn how sewing methods have evolved, how modern fabrics and trends influence construction, and how garments are created, repaired, or transformed. The five courses below examine the topics that form a complete introduction to sewing, from basic stitches to the structure and artistry of haute couture.
